News: Advertising regulator gives clean bill of health to its rules on online marketing to children

The Children’s Food Campaign is disappointed but not surprised that the industry body which sets the marketing rules - the Committees on Advertising Practice - has concluded that the rules governing online marketing to children "currently in place are providing the right level of protection."The only commitment contained in the report, published today, is that CAP will update guidance on the use of advergames and similar digital marketing tools to encourage advertisers to adhere to the existing rule that marketing communications must be obviously identifiable as such.

News: FoodSave sets up surplus food collections at four London markets

Surplus food from all four markets is being used to feed disadvantaged Londoners. With the help of Plan Zheroes, a Hackney hostel run by Look Ahead Care & Support is now collecting surplus produce from Broadway Market each Saturday. Traders in Brixton Village and neighbouring Market Row are donating unsold food to Brixton's Ruach City Church, to be used in a weekly lunch for homeless people. 'London Food Rescue Network' City Harvest is collecting surplus fruit and vegetables from wholesale market New Covent Garden and delivering them to various local charities feeding people in need.
