Amongst the winners at the Baking Industry Awards (BIA) 2024 were:
It's the second time that past Real Bread Campaign ambassador Aidan Monks has been named the BIA’s Baker of the Year, a category sponsored by fellow Campaign supporter Brook Food & Bakery Equipment. Adding it to the bakery’s ever-growing trophy cabinet, Aidan told British Baker: “Every award previously won is treasured.” He added, though: “the best achievement is the queues… our devoted customers queue consistently and patiently because they love and appreciate the loaves.”
Real Bread Campaign coordinator Chris Young said: "Congratulations to our supporters, and any other Real Bread bakers, who won awards last night."
He added: "Bit of a surprise to see a company that's under trading standards investigation being named 'Bakery Retailer of the Year', mind. Still, the award's for a retailer, rather than best in-store bakery, I suppose."
The Campaign welcomes everyone to join, while all companies that make at least one additive-free product are invited to add their details to the free Real Bread Map.
Full details of all winners, including articles on why they won, can be found on the British Baker website.
