Scottish newspaper says sugary drinks tax 'worth investigating'
Today the Herald Scotland newspaper has declared that a sugary drinks duty is "a tax worth investigating in the fight against obesity".
Their editorial comes in response to the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh conference on obesity today, which backed the call for a sugary drinks duty and called for a debate to start in Scotland on it. The Herald's editorial concludes: "a healthier diet and better lifestyle encouraged through taxes is a worthy aim, but it will not be easy, it will not be quick and it will test the boundaries between state aspiration and individual choice."
