FSA publishes strategic plan

The Food Standards Agency has published its Strategic Plan, setting out how it will work over the next five years to deliver its goals.

The Agency said it recognised the growing challenges around food safety, affordability, security and sustainability and in the strategic plan pledged to "protect public health and consumers' interests in relation to food, so that food is safe and what it says it is, that we have access to an affordable healthy diet, and can make informed choices about what we eat, now and in the future". The Agency also said it would support innovations in food production which could deliver "net consumer benefit" even if they conflict with some people's values. They argued that their role was to help frame public debate and to advocate for adoption of those technologies. Have a look at Sustain's guide to eating more sustainably
