First ever Sign-up-for-CSA Day is 1 March 2017

The supermarkets may have run out of courgettes, but Community Supported Agriculture farmers have plenty of supplies -- and now is the time to sign up.

Cold weather in southern Europe has devastated vegetable crops, causing British supermarkets to raise their prices and ration lettuces. But, as Sustain member the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Network points out, there’s no shortage of affordable, fresh, tasty, seasonal vegetables being grown at  CSA schemes across the UK. And the first-ever national CSA Sign Up Day in the UK is on Wednesday 1 March 2017.

Community Supported Agriculture is a way of farming in which people contribute to farm costs in return for a regular share of sustainable, local produce. This can include fruit, vegetables, meat, eggs, dairy, honey, bread or other produce. People who sign up can also get involved by helping out with growing and harvesting, or investing in the farm.

Find out more, including how to sign up, at the CSA website here.
