Stirring up the GM debate

Sustain member Beyond GM wants to get chefs -- and their customers -- talking and thinking about genetically modified food.

In their own words, Beyond GM want to move the debate on genetically modified foods  'beyond the abstract, and often impenetrable' scientific arena, and onto the public radar. They argue that as GM techniques become more varied and sophisticated, and GM ingredients enter more and more foods, it will be increasingly difficult to keep tack of their use.

Their latest campaign, Stir the Pot, aims to take the debate on GM to chefs, caterers, restaurateurs, hoteliers and others in the food service industry -- a huge and neglected sector of the food system for this issue. To inform the conversation, they are asking people to complete a survey here about their views on GM and the food they eat outside the home.
