Point The Fish Finger – update on our action

We are delighted to say that Bella Italia and JD Wetherspoons have positively responded to our action.

Bella Italia have now published a sustainable fish policy on their website. Thank you, this is a key part of the Sustainable Fish Cities pledge and vital for making your souring policy clear to concerned customers. There were a few inaccuracies in the policy that we are discussing with Bella Italia.

JD Wetherspoon have now published a sustainable fish policy on their website! It includes really good information about the sustainability ratings and sources of their fish species, including stating that they are planning to start sourcing certified prawns and salmon in the next year. You can find their policy on the JD Wetherspoon website. We have therefore stopped sending emails to JD Wetherspoon.

Thank you for Pointing the Fish Finger, and thank you to Bella Italia and JD Wetherspoon for taking some positive steps.

Neither of these have taken the Sustainable Fish Cities pledge to adopt a fully sustainable fish policy yet, but we would very much like them to do so, so please continue to Point the Fish Finger!

Sustainable Fish: A campaign to protect precious marine environments and fishing livelihoods, and call for fish to be bought from sustainable sources. We want to show what can be done if people and organisations make a concerted effort to change their buying habits.
