Sourdough September shenanigans
It’s the Real Bread Campaign’s annual, international floury fiesta celebrating that life’s sweeter with sourdough, and here’s a taste of what’s happening in London.
What’s on
During #SourdoughSeptember, bakeries, baking schools, pizzerias, mills and others run sourdough classes, feasts, tasting and more. London highlights this year include:

What it’s all about
The Real Bread Campaign created #SourdoughSeptember in 2013 to:
- Share the delicious delights of genuine sourdough
- Encourage more people to bake genuine sourdough
- Celebrate the small, independent bakeries that bake genuine sourdough
- Alert people to the issue of sourfaux
YOUR dough is kneaded
The only money the charity Sustain receives to run #SourdoughSeptember, and the rest of the Real Bread Campaign’s work, is from doughnations and annual supporter payments.
In return, Real Bread Campaign supporters benefit from the quarterly True Loaf magazine and hundreds of discounts on baking classes, ingredients, equipment and more.
Jellied Eel: With more than 50,000 readers, The Jellied Eel is the magazine for ethical eating in the capital. Published by Sustain's London Food Link to celebrate the best of London's local larder, each issue showcases the people and projects helping to put good food on the table. Annual subscription starts from less than £2 a month.
