Stockport off the mark as town's largest schools caterer signs fish pledge

Stockport have become the latest large town in the UK to kick off their Sustainable Fish Cities campaign and have done so in style, with a pledge to serve only demonstrably sustainable fish from large local caterer Solutions SK.

Solutions SK serve over 1.5 million meals per year, and are something of sustainability pioneers. The caterer was one of the first to achieve Marine Stewardship Council Certification, and serve British meat and free range eggs. The pledge is part of Stockport’s Sustainable Fish Cities campaign, which is being run by Feeding Stockport, part of the Sustainable Food Cities network. Fifteen towns and cities are now working on the Fish Cities campaign, aiming to get the largest and most important caterers in their area to switch to only verifiably sustainable fish.

Solutions SK are the latest education-specialist caterer to take the pledge, joining Caterlink, CH&Co, Edward and Ward, Harrison Catering, ISS Education, Sodexo, and 16 local authority caterers in committing to serving only 100% demonstrably sustainable fish.

Are you a fish-serving business or organisation based in Stockport? If so, can you support the campaign in your city by signing the Fish Cities Pledge.
