Do you have three hours to help fight hunger and food waste?

Farehare's ninth annual neighbourhood food collect-a-thon needs volunteers.

Sustain member Fareshare collects food that the supermarkets and food industry would otherwise throw away, and distributes it to projects that feed people who are in need of a meal. It thus combats both food waste and hunger.

For the ninth year, they are teaming up with Tesco and the Foodbank charity Trussell Trust to collect and distribute as much spare food as possible over the course of a single weekend. And they need volunteers to help them do so -- 'food heroes'.

All over the country, on the weekend of Thursday 1, Friday 2 and Saturday 3 December, volunteers will spend three hours each collecting food at Tesco's, which Fareshare will then deliver to projects that feed the homeless and hungry.
