EFSA's Scientific Opinion on caffeine

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has  published a risk assessment on intakes of caffeine.

The European Commission asked EFSA to carry out the assessment after some Member States raised concerns about the safety of caffeine consumption in the general population, for example the effect on cardiovascular disease, sleep problems and anxiety levels.  The EFSA factsheet gives information on levels of caffeine in different foods and drinks and its effect on health.
