A small but perfect future for food growing

Small-scale, agroecological farms attract UK workers, produce high yields of vegetables and deliver multiple environmental and social benefits, according to a new report from Sustain member the Land Workers' Alliance.

Based on a survey of 69 holdings of 20 hectares or less, A Matter of Scale shows how a diverse and vibrant sector of small farms is providing employment, attracting new entrants and incubating entrepreneurs. The authors say the picture they describe offers an exciting 'alternative vision' for the future of horticulture. Read the report here.
