A chance to buy shares in ecological farming

The Ecological Land Cooperative has launched an ambitious public share offer to raise funds for the creation of two new clusters of small farms.

Sustain member the Ecological Land Cooperative (ELC) was set up to tackle the lack of affordable sites for ecological land-based livelihoods in England. Sustainable rural livelihoods – including small-scale, ecological food production – bring many environmental and social benefits, but embarking on a smallholder existence is beyond the reach of almost everyone because of the prohibitive cost of land.

The ELC share offer will allow anyone who can make a minimum investment of £500 a chance to support its work.  After launching on 3 April, it raised almost £44,000 in just over two weeks, and needs to make a minimum of £120,000 to go ahead with the purchase. Find out more here.
