The 2016 food and drink rich list

Several household names from the world of food feature in the latest Sunday Times Rich List

According to the 2016 Sunday Times Rich List, the richest people connected to the food industry in the UK are Galen and George Weston, owners of Associated British Foods. ABF is worth more than £26bn, and the Westons' stake has risen to £5.4bn. They are the 4th wealthiest people in the UK overall.

As reported in the online news magazine Food Manufacture, other food millionaires to make the list included members of the Heineken family, the whisky distillers the Grant-Gordons, supermarket owner Sir Ken Morrison, Lord Vestey, the Sainsburys, the bakers Warburtons, pie and pastry makers the Samworth brothers, and the founders of the manufacturing company Two Sisters, Sanjit and Baljinder Singh Boparan.
