Two parliamentary Brexit inquiries calling for evidence

Efra, the food and farming scrutiny committee, and the House of Lords Constitution Committee have announced inquiries on different aspects of Brexit -- likely to be the first of many. They are asking for submissions from the public, and Sustain will be working with partners to coordinate responses.

Efra's inquiry, on Food and Trade, will look for evidence of the likely impact on UK food and farming of potential new trading arrangements with the EU after Brexit. The deadline for submissions is 20th October -- details here.

The House of Lords Constitution Committee is taking a wider interest in the Brexit process, inviting contributions on the Repeal Bill's constitutional implications. This inquiry follows the Committee's two reports on the topic, in the latter of which it concluded that the Bill is 'highly complex and convoluted in its drafting and structure', rendering 'scrutiny very difficult' and leaving 'multiple and fundamental constitutional questions…unanswered'. Find links to the reports and inquiry  here, deadline for submissions 12th October.
