Bristol launches catchy social media campaign

SUGAR SMART Bristol has launched a brilliant and informative social media campaign amied at young people. The campaign features facts about hidden sugars in everyday foods, and a catchy animation with a familiar tune.

Building on the success of Bristol's other work on sugar reduction, including partnerships with the Bristol Sport Foundation and Bristol Water to improve public access to healthier food and drink, this new phase focuses on reaching younger audiences through social media channels.

The star of the campaign is an animated video called Thirsty Eyes, which captures the power of sugary cravings have on people of all ages, but especially teenagers. SUGAR SMART Bristol has also created a series of colourful images with with stats on hidden sugars in everyday foods, prefect for sharing on social media.

The campaign was funded by a grant from Sustainable Food Cities and involved extensive research with young people aged 15-18, including consultations with the Bristol City Youth Council.

SUGAR SMART is run by Sustain and Jamie Oliver, and is the feature campaign of the UK Sustainble Food Cities network until mid-2018.
