End the inhumane shipping of live animals

Compassion in World Farming calls for support for a Bill that would give local authority ports the right to reject live animal freight.

Sustain member Compassion in World Farming has long waged a campaign to end the UK's cruel trade in live exports.

Now a Bill has been introduced in Parliament that would allow ports controlled by local authorities to refuse passage to lorries loaded (or often overloaded) with live animals. At present, local authorities do not have this power.

The Bill is an amendment to the Harbours, Docks and Piers Clauses Act (1847). CIWF urges anyone concerned about this inhumane trade to ask MPs to support the bill.
