Happy 20th birthday, MSC

Sustain member the Marine Stewardship Council marked its 20th anniversary this April with a new strategy, setting out its ambition for more than a third of the global marine catch to be certified or engaged in the MSC program by 2030.
 

Twenty years ago, the MSC was a new idea developed by an NGO (WWF) and a private corporation (Unilever) to address the challenge of unsustainable fishing. They wanted to work together to create a market-based mechanism that would connect seafood producers and consumers through a credible third-party certification and labelling program.Today, this innovation has become an established concept, and a global sustainable seafood movement has emerged.  Read more here.
