Young crofters make their voices heard

A group of young crofters are forming a new branch of the Scottish Crofting Federation to add their voices to the fight to protect and support the crofting tradition.

The idea came from an SCF gathering in Assynt earlier in the year, 'Young Crofters 20:20', where the need to access land, homes and jobs was discussed. The young crofters want to free up crofts that are not being used, make the Croft House Grant Scheme and the Crofting Agriculture Grant Scheme more accesible and provide better broadband and mobile phone coverage. Sustain member Scottish Crofting Federation welcomed this new branch, 30 years after the Scottish Crofters Union was first set up.
