Seafood in Scottish Schools

A motion has been tabled in the Scottish Parliament welcoming the Seafood in Schools project.

The project, run by Seafood Scotland, aims to teach children about the Scottish seafood industry. They learn about where Scottish seafood comes from and how it is produced as well as the health benefits of eating fish.

Ruth Westcott, Sustainable Fish Cities officer commented, "It’s vital that schoolchildren are taught about food – our food choices are one of the biggest ways we have an impact on our health and the environment. When it comes to seafood, this simply must include information about how to make sustainable choices, otherwise we face the risk that fish won’t be a viable food choice for the next generation of schoolchildren at all. Both Fish and Kids and cool seas have some great resources to help children make sustainable fish choices.
