Organic farmers can now take advantage of payments under Defra's new Countryside Stewardship Scheme.
The CSS offers an organic maintenance and conversion scheme open to everyone, while other grants are offered competitively. Sustain member The Soil Association welcomed the new scheme, saying it heralded new support for organic farming from the government.
