Farmers and the supply chain regulator review

Are you a farmer or know a farmer? Do you have evidence that companies in the food supply chain are being unfair; making unreasonable demands of farmers or growers? If you do, then take the chance to comment now and get better regulation.

And it’s not just the retailers. Are the intermediaries – the traders and manufacturers between the farmers and retailer – making unreasonable demands? Is abuse occurring along any part of the supply chain?

The government needs to hear your views on the Grocery Code Adjudicator which is the regulator that oversees the Grocery Code of Practice. They need to hear why this regulator should be maintained, must be better resourced and, most importantly have its remit extended to cover all players along the chain. Please respond to the consultation and encourage any suppliers you know to respond. The deadline 10 January 2017.

More details on the review and how to respond is available here and if you want to discuss your submission, do email tom.wills@traidcraft.org who is happy to help.
