EU sugar reforms threaten public health

A new paper in the British Medical Journal warns that EU sugar trade reforms could harm public health by flooding the market with cheap sugar. 

In the BMJ paper the authors, from the University of Cambridge, describe the process of liberalisation by the EU as trade protections for European sugar beet are phased out. They argue that agricultural policies should be made with health outcomes in mind.
