DEFRA celebrates bumper harvest

Environment Secretary Elizabeth Truss has praised British farmers' productivity as new figures show this year's UK harvest has been one of the biggest in almost 20 years. 

Defra said that the UK barley harvest reached almost 7.3 million tonnes (the largest barley crop since 1997) while for the first time ever UK wheat exceeded 16 million tonnes for two years running.
