Sports drinks resist sugar tax

UK sports drink manufacturers have formed a lobby group to argue for exemption from the sugar tax due to be levied from 2018

The measure was introduced in the March Budget, to help combat obesity. The sports drinks manufacturers claim their drinks are mainly consumed by people already pursuing healthy lifestyles, and therefore should not be subject to the tax.
