Healthy Norwich has produced an animation exposing the impacts of fizzy drinks on young people’s health and wellbeing to inspire teens to kick the habit.
The #SUGARSMART video, commissioned with funding from Anglian Water, is part of a social media campaign to engage young people in Norwich on the effects of sugary drinks on their energy, mood, and overall health. Teenagers’ intake of sugary drinks is the highest of all groups and they consume 50% more sugar on average than is currently recommended.
The video is part of wider SUGAR SMART work in Norwich, which includes school debates on sugar overconsumption, recruiting sugar reduction champions, and increasing availability of free drinking water across public spaces and eateries. This work is led by Healthy Norwich, a health promotion partnership between NHS Norwich Clinical Commissioning Group and partners from surrounding local councils.
Check out the animation and read more about ambitious plans in Norwich to tackle overconsumption of sugar and improve the life outcomes of the city’s younger generations.
