Aldi signs up to NFU's Fruit and Veg pledge

Discount retailer Aldi is the first to sign up to the UK National Farmers' Union Fruit and Veg pledge.

The NFU's pledge tries to address some of the issues suppliers face when working with supermarkets. By signing the NFU's pledge retailers agree that they will not force suppliers to fund promotions, that they will develop long term relationships with suppliers, as well as providing them with written contractual agreements and net cost price agreements. They also make a commitment to buying seasonal British fruit and veg.
