Healthier foods are more than twice as expensive per calorie than less healthy foods and less available, according to The Food Foundation’s latest report on trends impacting UK food system.

Sustain member The Food Foundation have just launched their 2025 Broken Plate report, their flagship publication which looks at the trends impacting the UK's food system. The report also sets out the actions needed from policymakers in order to ensure everyone can afford healthy and sustainable food.
This year's report highlights that too many people in the UK lack the financial means to access decent food and that much of the food readily available and marketed to us is damaging our health and the planet.
Using 13 key metrics, the report provides a snapshot of the current food environment and offers solutions to improve the food system for everyone's benefit.
