How can community food projects better support the LGBTQ+ community?

This LGBTQ+ History Month, we are promoting a new video from the team at Brighton & Hove Food Partnership exploring how charitable food providers and other community food projects can better support LGBTQ+ communities and be more inclusive.

Produced in partnership with Reuben Davidson, CEO of The Village Food Bank, the 7 minute video shares practical steps to make food settings more inclusive, explains how health inequalities can increase vulnerability to food insecurity, and offers clear, actionable advice for organisations looking to improve their practice.

Since 2024, the Village Food Bank team have been providing access to food, essential items like toiletries and baby food as well as services and information in ways that respect and reflect the diversity of the community.

This LGBTQ+ HIstory Month, we encourage community food settings to watch and share this video, and consider their own LGBTQ+ inclusivity.

For more information on LGBTQ+ inclusion in community food settings, contact The Village Food Bank at thevillagefoodbank@gmail.com and read Brighton and Hove Food Partnership's blog on practical steps for LGBTQ+ inclusion in food projects.
