Real Bread sold here!
The 100+ bakeries signed up to The Loaf Mark scheme.
While the Real Bread Campaign continues to lobby for an Honest Crust Act (which would include a legal definition of bread, and require full ingredient labelling of every loaf) shoppers should look for The Loaf Mark.
The Real Bread Loaf Mark
This scheme is run by the Campaign to help bakers give people their own at-a-glance assurance that a loaf is additive-free.
The Real Bread Loaf Mark’s companion is The Sourdough Loaf Mark. This helps a baker let shoppers know that their Real Bread is genuine sourdough - leavened only using a sourdough starter culture, with no added baker’s yeast or other raising agent. Say no to sourfaux!
Where to find Real Bread
Around 1000 bakeries have posted details on the Real Bread Map of where people can buy their additive-free loaves, buns, flatbreads, pastries and more.
Of these, around 100 are currently signed up to The Real Bread Loaf Mark scheme, enabling them to also use The Sourdough Loaf Mark as applicable.
As at 21 February 2022, the bakeries signed up to The Loaf Mark scheme are:

NB As the scheme runs on an annual basis, running for 12 months from the date of signing up, participating bakeries can change weekly.
There are around 900 bakeries that have added their details to the Real Bread Map but haven't signed up to use The Loaf Mark, and who knows how many Real Bread bakeries that have done neither.
How it works
A baker signs an annual usage agreement that they will only use The Real Bread Loaf Mark to promote/market products that are what the Campaign defines as Real Bread. The agreement limits the use of The Sourdough Loaf Mark to Real Bread leavened only using a live sourdough starter culture.
The Loaf Mark is not an accreditation, certification or award, and participation is opt-in, rather than automatic when someone joins the Campaign - many of our supporters aren't bakers.
