News Real Bread Campaign

Published: Thursday 3 February 2022

The Real Bread Campaign has teamed up with researchers from the University of Edinburgh and Scotland the Bread for a research project called RISE: people and jobs nourished per hectare.

The aim is to find out how many people work in the UK’s wheat - flour - bread supply chain and to understand the quality of their jobs.

If you grow/mill grain, make/sell bread (or otherwise work in the UK seed to sandwich chain) please...

Take the short survey

The survey is completely anonymous. The researchers at University of Edinburgh will not ask for any personal information such as your name, your employer, or contact details.

After completing it, you will have the opportunity to see how your job compares to an average British job in the same field.

Are you a bakery manager?

If so, it would be great if you could spare just a few more minutes for this second, even shorter, survey about the amount of work (ie person hours/ person days) involved in making bread in your bakery.

Take the even shorter survey

Info

These studies are being carried out by researchers from the University of Edinburgh, in partnership with social enterprise Scotland The Bread. The work is funded by the UK Government’s Economic and Social Research Council. The Real Bread Campaign is assisting with promoting the studies and their findings.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the survey, please email study research assistant Daisy Martinez.
