Sustain advising five London boroughs to develop food poverty action plans
The Greater London Authority has now allocated funding to five boroughs to develop their own food poverty action plans. Sustain's London Food Link will advise and assist the boroughs as they develop them.
The Sustain / London Food Link Beyond the Food Bank 2016 report identified that only one third of London boroughs already have, or are developing, a food poverty action plan.
The Greater London Authority has now allocated funding to five boroughs to develop their own plans. Thanks to funding from Trust for London, Sustain will advise and assist the boroughs as they develop these plans. The boroughs are Croydon, Enfield, Merton, Redbridge and Tower Hamlets.
As the plans develop we will share the experience and learning with other councils in London and beyond. We recently published a short guide to developing food poverty action plans, based on the experiences of local areas which have already produced food poverty needs assessments and/or food poverty action plans.
