Petition for levies on straws and cups to stop the ‘plastic tide’

The Marine Conservation Society are asking the public to sign their petition to introduce levies on single use plastic items. They believe that plastic cups, cutlery, straws, bottles, lids and stirrers are too cheap and their price doesn’t reflect the damage they do to nature.

The MCS (who are members of Sustain) say their volunteers are witnessing ever increasing plastic pollution which is killing sea turtles and other animals.

They are asking for signatures for their petition to the Governments of England, Scotland, Wales and N. Ireland calling for levies on single use plastic.

They are also petitioning fast food chains to stop giving out single use plastic.
