Marine Conservation Society

The Marine Conservation Society has been instrumental in the establishment of Sustainable Fish City. It provides the scientific assessment of the sustainability of fish species, stocks and methods of catch or production. These are published as the authoritative 'fish to eat' and 'fish to avoid' lists, offering food businesses, caterers and consumers the opportunity to be better informed about what they buy. The Sustainable Fish City pledge refers to these lists to help people make sense of the simple principle "Avoid the worst; Promote the best; Improve the rest."

“Good ethics should be part of everyday business. Many restaurants and caterers in this are helping to protect our precious marine resources. They should get rightful recognition and inspire others to do the same.”
