How can local communities, local government, the voluntary and community sector build better local food systems and address food poverty? What are the best tools for assessing local action in this area and holding local authorities to account?
This webinar brings together a range of speakers to share approaches and tools for assessing local areas action on food.
The webinar will begin with an overview of Sustain’s Response, Resilience and Recovery report and survey, which assessed London borough council’s actions to address food poverty and to improve the local food environment in the face of and in response to Covid-19. Speakers will outline their methods and approach, and suggest ways the research could be replicated in other areas as a way to hold local government to account.
We will then hear from other speakers about similar tools for assessing local action on food, including in Buckinghamshire, and through the Food Power programme.
The webinar will provide an opportunity to learn about tried and tested methods for those interested in conducting research in their own local area, and to unpick the lessons learned by researchers who have done this assessment first hand.
