Plunkett awards for community food businesses

Do you know of (or participate in) a rural community business that provides a valuable service to your locality? The Plunkett Foundation would like to hear from you

The Plunkett Foundation has existed for nearly a century, with the aim of helping communities to help themselves. Its Community Ownership Awards celebrate the most inspiring examples of people in rural areas working together to improve the quality of local life.

Eligible food-related groups might be keeping a local food shop open, growing greens for local distribution -- or anything else that meets the criterion of addressing local problems 'through trading activity that is needed, that will be economically viable and sustainable, and helps alleviate poverty, disadvantage and social exclusion'.

If you know of such a group, the deadline for nominations is Friday 14 October. Find out more here.
