Real Bread maker crowned Baker of The Year

Last night Real Bread Campaign supporter Alex Gooch took home the top prize at The Baking Industry Awards.

In doing so, he beat fellow Campaign supporter Dominic Salter of The Sandwich Box and Campaign ambassador Richard Bertinet of The Bertinet Bakery.

Real Bread Campaign coordinator Chris Young said “It’s fantastic to see all three places on the Baker of The Year podium occupied by Real Bread Campaign supporters, who have reached the top of their game by selecting great, natural ingredients and building their skills, rather than leaning on the crutch of artificial additives.”

Finalists in other categories included Campaign supporter the founder of the eponymous Peter Cooks Bread for his genuine sourdough.

Founded in 1987, The Baking Industry Awards are run by William Reed Business Media, publisher of British Baker magazine. The Baker of The Year award was sponsored by Campaign supporter Brook Food Processing Equipment.
