Monday 16th October is World Food Day!

At Sustain we are celebrating the people and potential of sustainable food. But we are also mindful that millions of people still do not enjoy 'food security'. A report being launched in London to mark World Food Day spells out what this means.

The Global Hunger Index is an annual publication that tracks the state of hunger worldwide, and spotlights the places where corrective action is most urgently needed. This year's report shows that some progress has been made in reducing hunger since 2000, but levels are still serious or alarming in 51 countries.

This year's report focuses on the inequalities underlying hunger, including geographic, income, and gender inequality and the inequalities of social, political and economic power in which they are rooted. The report will be launched in London at an event where a distinguished panel will discuss these underlying inequalities. The event takes place at RIBA, at 66 Portland Place, London W1, from 5.30-7pm. You can sign up here, or download the report here.
