Lets Get Cooking in Scotland

More young Scots are set to learn to cook healthy meals, thanks to a Big Lottery grant to the Children's Food Trust, which will use the money to train cooking mentors and run after-school cookery clubs.

Let’s Get Cooking, set up by the Children’s Food Trust in 2007, is the UK's largest network of healthy cooking clubs for children and their families. It has now been awarded more than £47,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to set up cooking projects in 20 secondary schools across Glasgow, Edinburgh and North Lanarkshire.

The funding will be used to train twenty 14-16 year olds to become cooking mentors and run cooking sessions after school. The Trust will also train school staff volunteers to support the cooking clubs.

The project aims to support the Scottish Government's plan for Scotland to be a Good Food Nation.
