Ahead of the summit on 13 April, Sustain are part of the organising committee behind Make Rio Count, an interactive briefing session co-hosted by the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Agriculture and Food for Development, the APPG for Hunger, and the APPG for Brazil. The event for parliamentarians will discuss the ambitious financial and political commitments needed to reach millions more pregnant women and infants with the right nutrition, and reduce cases of stunting and deaths from severe acute malnutrition.
The event will highlight an ambitious new vision for food and nutrition security in the UK that delivers access to healthy, affordable and sustainable food for all. This includes a commitment to increase the voucher value and uptake of the UK's Healthy Start programme; a commitment to protect and improve child nutrition during the school holidays; and a commitment to annual government-led national measurement of adult and child food insecurity.
