London enterprises named in BBC Food & Farming Awards

Three London-based enterprises have been nominated for the prestigious BBC food & farming award; GrowUp Urban Farms, based in Beckton, Granville Community Kitchen in Kilburn and Gourmet Goat in Borough Market.

Each year the BBC Food and Farming awards celebrates the best of the UK's food and farming initiatives and for 2016 there is a new Future Food Award, with London-based GrowUp Urban Farms shortlisted for their innovative aquaponics enterprise, in East London.

Both GrowUp and Granville Community Kitchen (shortlisted for BBC Cook of the year) have previously received funding and support from the Capital Growth food growing initiative, which is run by the London Food Link network who bring together the people who grow, make, cook, sell and eat good food in the capital.

“We are delighted to see some of London’s food talents highlighted in this year’s award” commented Sarah Williams from London Food Link “and we will definitely be rooting from them on 28 April when the awards are announced”.
