The European Parliament has approved plans to merge separate EU Member States free school milk, fruit and vegetable schemes.
MEPs also want more to be done to educate school children about healthy eating. The new rules on free school milk, fruit and vegetables would require Member States to earmark 10-20% of EU funding for educational activities including farm visits. MEPs were told that both milk, fruit and vegetable consumption was falling across Europe. Additional funds would be made available for the new scheme. Support Sustain's Children's Food Campaign.
