The US House of Representatives has overwhelmingly approved the two chambers’ farm bill compromise, 369-47. The Senate held its vote on Tuesday, passing the legislation with similarly wide margins and it is now ready to be signed off by President Trump.
The $867 billion bill covers everything from expanding subsidies to the relatives of farmers to legalising the growing of hemp.
It is argued that the bill largely preserves the status quo and it no longer contains the controversial measure of limiting access to SNAP (formerly known as food stamps.)
