Early diary date for infants' food campaigners

The First Steps Nutrition Trust, which campaigns for the best possible food for infants from birth onwards, will hold its second annual conference in London on Wednesday 26 April 2017.

The conference will take place at Kensington Town Hall, and the theme of this year's event will be ‘Good nutrition in the first year of life’.

The day will include speakers and workshops on:

  • New national recommendations from the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition (SACN) on food in the first year of life.
  • New guidance and menus for early-years settings in England.
  • A review of commercial baby foods marketed in the UK – how much do these support current infant feeding guidance?
  • A reflection on 2016 and infant feeding: have we made progress in ‘changing the conversation’ about breastfeeding? What next?
  • Are we thinking enough about inequalities when we support families with infants? Will Brexit uncertainty and rising food prices mean we need to reassess how we give advice on eating well?
