No excuse now for boroughs not to adopt the London Living Wage

Sustain member CPAG has teamed up with the Living Wage Foundation to produce this guide to help local authorities in the capital become accredited Living Wage employers.

As the guide makes clear, with stagnating wages and high inflation forecast, the introduction of universal credit and the four-year freeze on working-age benefits, families across London need all the help they can get. Becoming an accredited Living Wage employer is a substantive way for local authorities to improve the lives of their employees -- and it also has a positive, ripple effect on local businesses.

The guide explains how councils can become accredited, and shows how local authorities that are already accredited can go even further as Living Wage employers. Read the Guide here.

Paying the London Living Wage is one of the measures used in Sustain's twin annual publications that track the performance of London boroughs in providing Good Food For London and going Beyond the Food Bank in tackling food poverty. 2017's reports will appear in October.
