WHO says Europe has world's lowest breastfeeding rates

The World Health Organisation used World Breastfeeding Week to voice concerns about low rates of breastfeeding in Europe.

The WHO said promotion of and support for breastfeeding was critical for the development and appropriate nutrition of children. It called for further promotion of breastfeeding in European countries and said measures should be taken to limit aggressive, inappropriate marketing of breast-milk substitutes.  Sustain promotes UNICEF UK's Baby Friendly initiative through various projects we run.
