For the past four years, Narture CIC in Ayr has used bread sales to fund town regeneration through art initiatives. The team is now running a crowdfunding campaign to raise £15,000 by 7 May 2024 to boost the bakery's capacity, which is also crucial for sustaining and expanding their art projects within their local community.

Launch party invitation

To kick off the campaign, Narture will be hosting a launch party from 5 to 8pm on Wednesday 17 April 2024 at SHAPE on Newmarket in Ayr. The team promise: ‘a delectable spread of sourdough delights and drinks, along with entertainment by local artists and an exciting art auction showcasing the talent and creativity of the community.’

They go on to say that the launch party ‘is not just about food, art, music and drinks but about coming together as a community to support a cause they believe in.’

More about the crowdfunder

Reinvesting all earnings into revitalising unused spaces in Sandgate and Newmarket Street, the Narture CIC has already transformed several significant historical properties into thriving hubs of creativity and wellbeing. These spaces provide not only employment opportunities but also host workshops, exhibitions and creative studios, fostering community engagement and artistic endeavours.

With increasing demand, the team face the urgent need to expand the bakery. The funds raised will be used to acquire essential baking equipment, including an industrial oven, mixers, and a pastry sheeter, as well as preparing the newly acquired venue (SHAPE at 32 Newmarket Street) to accommodate these additions. This expansion will enable Narture CIC to make more Real Bread and generate more revenue to sustain its activities and fund furture art projects.

The Narture team expressed gratitude for the ongoing support they receive and highlighted the opportunity for people to make a real difference in their community by supporting local artists and artisans.
