The European Union and Chile have finalised a deal to facilitate trade in organic products.
Described as a landmark, the deal will cover all European organic products, and will allow products produced and controlled according to EU rules to be directly marketed in Chile, and vice versa.
According to Food Navigator, which reported the story, the deal is considered the first of a new generation of of trade agreements for organic products, strengthening mutual recognition of products and logos. Colombia is already in talks with the EU in pursuit of a similar deal.
