Living in a world where people are increasingly separate from nature, we often look at our surroundings through lenses of judgement and labelling, through cameras and screens and often we don’t even have the time to stop and look at all. This can make us feel a little disconnected.
In this workshop wonderful host, Nadia El-Fakhri, dedicated our full attention to seeing and drawing in order to reconnect with the natural world. You don’t need any artistic experience to take part, just a love of plants and nature. We went through some relaxed observational drawing activities to absorb the detail and visual complexity of our plants and played with making marks to capture its essence.
We were invited to choose a plant to focus on and to bring along homemade inks and drawing tools. The aim of this workshop wasa not to create a finished piece of art but to come together as a community to reconnect with nature and have some fun making art together.
