"What on earth is the energy drinks ban - I thought energy drinks are already banned?" Energy drinks aren’t banned for children yet — but they might be soon. The Government is consulting on a national ban, and YOU can shape it.

Why does this matter? Growing evidence shows that regular consumption of high-caffeine energy drinks among children is linked to sleep problems, anxiety, headaches, and lower academic performance. The issue also disproportionately affects children from lower-income communities, highlighting a wider concern around health inequality.

Currently, high-caffeine energy drinks are required to display warning labels such as “Not suitable for children,” and some large supermarkets have already chosen to restrict sales to under-16s. However, the same rules aren’t consistently applied across all retailers or by smaller shops and convenience stores – leaving gaps in the protection of children's health that the new law aims to address.

Join our interactive session on the Government’s energy drinks consultation and have your say on the proposed changes! This is a chance to understand what’s being proposed and why, discuss the issues and get guidance on answering the consultation survey, and ensure your voice directly contributes to shaping the final policy.

Feel free to check out our handy guidance that we have created with Bite Back to support you answering the consultation survey questions.
